Efficient Waiting-Time methods for temporal clustering detection of cancer

Abstract:Detection of increasing trend of cancer incidence in relatively small populations dictates analyses by a sequential procedure that is efficient for small number of cases spread over a long period. Inflation of the significance level is accounted for. In addition, a cumulative probability of a continuous random variable, graphically presented, depicts the temporal pattern of the diagnoses. This pattern may provide clues regarding the time and intensity of the carcinogenic exposure.
